Is this normal 1 month into school

My son started primary school last month and has been loving it! however this last week his behaviour has changed drastically. He's been telling me he's being naughty at school, he's never said anything like this before! He's also not been sleeping well at home, waking in the night and early in the morning! He's become so so emotional and angry. It's really hard to control. I have tried to talk to him when he's calm but as all kids do he doesn't tell me anything about school. His teachers haven't told me they have any concerns yet, and I don't want to have to message them to ask yet either as I still feel it's so early into them starting. Has anyone else experienced this with your reception starters?

I think it’s fine to ask to talk to the Teacher and say that his sleep and behaviour have both deteriorated and can they give you an update on how he is at school. This will give them an opportunity to raise any concerns, if there are any to raise Smile

I recently read that this is a thing, absolutely normal. The children have got over the excitement of starting school, meeting new friends, activities etc. and are possibly feeling a bit tired. It will pass 🤞

Agree that they can get really very tired. My DF had to get her DD into bed by 6pm for the first two terms or else she’d be overtired and couldn’t cope.
