DS has just turned 12 months and I’m keenly aware of that fact that a poor response to their own name at this stage is perhaps the most significant predictor of a future autism diagnosis.
Here’s the thing - while he doesn’t really respond to his own name if I say it, if I substitute almost any other boy’s name with the same number of syllables, said in the same tone, DS will glance up.
Does anyone know why this might be?
