Teething baby or early autism

I know the title of this sounds crazy, I feel crazy writing this I've never even used this site before. my baby is currently teething very badly and also has a fever. he's been teething for a few weeks now and over that time he seems so sad, he's rocking alot and humming alot and biting down on his lips he's not laughing with us or smiling anymore and he's stopped rolling over and other things. At first I thought it was his teeth but when I list down all the things it sounds like autism traits. Im so confused and so worried about him. Could his teeth be causing all of this? has anyone had the same thing happen to their baby

He's so young OP that it's really hard to say anything useful. What about mentioning it to your HV if you're a bit worried though?

If he’s got a fever, is he having Calpol? How is he after he’s had pain relief?

He’s taking the infant ibuprofen the nurse said that would be better. The changes have been over a month or so. He’s stopped babbling and not making a lot of sound when he laughs and laughing is hardly even happening now. He’s also not responding to his name anymore in my head I want this to all be linked to his teeth pain and fever he’s just not happy because he’s poorly but my heart is telling me something just isn’t right. The more I read on autism the more scared I am getting. We have a HV appointment tomorrow.

It’s difficult isn’t it because it could very well just be the dental pain. And your Nurse is right, Ibruprofen absolutely is better for teething.

Let us know how you get on tomorrow. I suspect the HV will want to see you again, maybe in a month, when LO is likely to have recovered.

If she does want to wait and see, try and get her to book an appointment with you for the follow up there and then.
