Split nights since starting school

My just turned 4 year old started school 2 weeks ago and her sleep has been terrible ever since. She is waking up at any time between 12 and 3 and then struggling to get back to sleep. I am having to then go and settle her (taking an hour or more) and stay with her.

She has autism, which may be a contributing factor, but any advice on how to get her to sleep through again would be appreciated. I suffer from chronic health issues myself and am really struggling with the sleep deprivation.

If she’s diagnosed with ASD has she been prescribed slow release melatonin?

Thanks@BunnyRuddingtonno she hasn't. If it continues for more than a month I think I will need to ask our GP about that. We tried magnesium flakes in the bath last night and whilst I didn't have to spend an hour or more negotiating getting her back into bed I did have to sleep in with her and ended up being regularly woken to look for the piece of grass she is currently insisting on taking to bed 😩

It does sound really tough. Definitely ask about Melatonin. Whilst you wait, do you think a weighted blanket might help?
