LOL - obviously been a while since I did word books with DD2!

DD2 is 2 yrs 5 months. She just got all the word story books down and so I sat with her to go through things, pointing out the names for the things she knew.

Obviously been a while since we last did it as when I pointed to the drawing of a table and asked 'what's that?' she pointed out a squiggle on the picture of the table and said 'ohhh no, i fink that's drawing on table, I fink so mummy, oh dear boy did it I fink, naughty boy, time out, mummy cross, never mind daddy fix it, all better"

LOL. Errr think we might be slightly past naming objects in books now. Catch up aye mum!

I love it when they take you by surprise like that. My friend asked another friend's dd if she could say sea and she replied "Yes I went swimming in it"

It's great. I think becasue DD1 has Down's syndrome and took / takes sooooooo long to master new skills, DD2 amazes me with the ease with which she picks things up I haven't even tried to show her myself yet. It's amazing and wonderful.

Makes me realise how much of a struggle DD1 has had and continues to have but in a very quiet, just getting on with it in her own sweet way.

DD2 is already so far ahead of DD1 in her speech it's amazing and there is 4 years between them.

Grandma: Look at the flower, can you say flower?
DS1 (with very sympathetic look): It's a daffodil.

Friendly lady on bus: Your name is , can you say
DS1: I'm not being *, today I'm a combine harvester driver.

I remember taking ds (then 3) to the National Railway Museum in York, and we were packed like sardines into a little steam engine for a three foot run along a track. One man was holding his toddler son and said "Ooh, it's just like Thomas, isn't it?", to which ds interrupted and said "Actually as it's green and a saddle tank engine it's probably more like Percy". Bleedin' pedant.
