Baby sleeping patterns

Hi all, looking for some advice. 6 week old baby has started sleeping 11pm-5am, waking for a cuddle but not interested in feeding, then sleeping 6am-10am. I wake her at 10am to feed and feed (breastfed) lots throughout the day. Lots of wet and dirty nappies and behaviour is normal with no other symptoms. Anyone else experienced this? Thank you in advance X

Sounds totally normal.

You can try getting your baby out in the day for walks so they know it's daytime, and then close curtains/ dim lights at home from 7/8pm so they get used to it being nighttime and hopefully go to bed sooner and wake earlier. If that's what you wanted.

I started doing this with mine around 6 weeks and now he goes to bed about 8pm and gets up more like 7am for the day

Sounds fine @KirstyLee89. Is there something about this that’s worrying you?

I think I was under the impression that at 6 weeks they needed to wake to feed more often? X

At 6 weeks if they’re putting in weight, bright and alert at times and generally look healthy i wouldn’t wake them no.

This article from Kellymom should tell you of she’s getting enough overall Smile

Sounds like she’s already used to taking her calories in the daytime which is the Holy Grail for most parents Smile

I heard that too, but parents also report that their baby is happy sleeping. So, I wouldn't worry.

Whilst my son was waking more in the night at that age (often up 2-4 and then 6.30-8 too), he usually kindly followed up with a 3-4h nap, and I wouldn't wake up/get up until that nap was over! Happy days.
