Toddler bedtime battles

Our little boy is 2.5 years old. He’s always been a good sleeper and has gone to bed without any issues, but the past month has been very different. It coincides with the arrival of a new baby, his age and stage I assume, and also a lot of disruption at nursery with staff leaving since it was taken over by a chain.

Bedtime has now become a real battle, with lots of kicking, hitting, and crying, completely unlike what we’re used to. He seems full of energy every evening, almost hyper.

Our routine hasn’t changed, and we make sure he’s had a long enough awake window. Typically, he has his bath around 6.15pm, is out by 6.40pm, then into his sleeping bag and on our laps for books. Lights usually go off around 7.30pm, but lately we’re not even reaching that stage before things unravel.

Any suggestions or tips would be really appreciated!

Is it the same DP putting him to bed as before DC2 arrived @WillisTi?

Congratulations on your LO too Flowers

Maybe time to drop the nap, many kids do at 2.5, mine did, all my friends children did, much as it sucks to give it up! If he's already stopped napping then perhaps a developmental thing or a reaction to the changes you mentioned.
