Why is my 3 yr old so miserable in the morning?

My dd is 3.2. She has never had a good sleep routine due to always falling asleep in the car on the way home each evening (when I pick her up after work). I put her straight to bed when we get home because she screams if I try to wake her up and will sleep through til 5 or 6am if I leave her alone. So, if she has had 12 hours sleep why is she so miserable? Is she just not a morning person do you think?

even just a sup of fruit juice jolts him up out of it til he gets carbs to give steady energy for later...

I hadn't thought of that and she often has to wait til ds has had his milk. I'll try to get her breakfast first and see if it makes any difference. Thank you.

Gosh, thanks for this. Ds2 is dead grumpy in the morning and I never even thought about hunger

my sister (25) is like this in the morning until she has had some food. It is a long time to go without eating, especially if you are only little.
