Learning to play alone and entertain themselves

Would anyone have any tips for helping my 5 and 3.5 year old to entertain themselves a bit more sometimes and play independently. They need attention and entertaining all the time at the moment and are very clingy and get jealous for my attention and I think we’ve got into bad habits so I’d really love to teach them to entertain themselves a bit more at times. Many thanks.

It just happens as they get older.

I remember a big turning point at about 4.5 and 6.5

Until theb think you have to grin and bear it

No screens the majority of the time is the only thing that worked with mine - I either offered helping me with whatever fun thing I was doing (like sorting washing) or they could find something else to do ...
