Probably a good idea to do it now. My DD is just pulling herself up to standing (at 10 mo) but thankfully we lowered the cot a couple of weeks ago. One of my friends had a little boy who climbed over the bars at 8mo. Luckily he landed on the spare bed!

Do it now! My 9 mo is now pulling himself up - we dropped his cot about 6 weeks ago.
