Hi i have been pulling my hair out for days now i get so frustrated with this whole feeding thing any suggestions would be appreciated. So here it goes... my two month old will only take two oz at a time. We are on a three hour to three and 1/2 feeding schedule... she acts really hungry in the beginning takes the two oz like a dream she then stops and wants to burpi burp and burp and it only gives her little relief when offered more she acts like she wants it and then the crying begins we walk around i try to burp again with little relief. However, when she does burp at times she burps so much it regurgitates into her nose which really makes her mad!!! Sometimes I lie her down and try again in about ten min and she sucks initially and then begins to cry acting like i'm feeding her razor blades i think it is reflux and the doctor gave us pepcid about three weeks ago initally seemed to work and now we are back to the squirming at every feed and the overt discomfort noted with crying around the bottle while desperatley trying to suck. I have tried soy-- but it made her constipated and she didnt have a bm for two days. Now here's the weird thing at times when she wakes in the night she will easily take four oz without hesitation... but then all day long she is fussing and overtly demonstrating the signs i stated above. My concern comes with regards to feeding her NOT being a pleasure in fact i DREAD feeidng her because all that is running thru my mind is how difficult this is going to be and how much she seems to be suffering.

Anyone else have these kind of feeding issues? is a formula switch inorder? where to begin? we go to the dr tomorrow for her two month check up-- but i worry the dr will think i'm silly and will not make any valuable recommendations. What should i ask the dr for?

i feel completely frustrated and i feel bad for my little one when she appears to be suffering so much.

I'm not good on bottlefeeding - but you may find better support if you repost in the Breast and bottlefeeding area?

Also, please say if she's gaining weight well. Maybe she only wants 2 oz at a time - let her drink however much she wants when she wants?

if reflux is an issue, then infant gaviscon seems to really benefit little ones.

also, is she feeding better at night becasue she is overstimulated in the day?

you could try feeding her in a quiet place, with no telly or distractions and try feeding her skin to skin, so she is very close to you and feels secure

don;t panic too much abotu how much she takes, she is still only little and taking small frequent feeds is actually quite normal.

don;t give soy without explicit medical advice.

formulas are all pretty much of a muchness....they are closer to each other, rather than closer to breastmilk, so it should not make a huge difference if you switch her over.

what rate teat are you using with the bottle? she might be getting frustrated if it it too slow>

What formula is she on? I don't agree that formula doesn't make a difference. We just switched DS from SMA Gold to Cow & Gate and it made a big difference in the type of poo he's doing, the ease of burping and how much he takes...

But I would guess if she is putting on weight, then it's not really a problem how much she eats. My LO has been eating pretty much the same amount for weeks and weeks on end now...
