How do I stop dd2 scratching her big big sister?

My dd2 is two in June but at the moment my dd1 (nearly 4) looks like she's done 10 rounds with a cat.

She has two scratches from Saturday from when they were sitting in a supermarket trolley together and another 3 from an incident this morning- all on her one cheek.

I know dd2 isn't intentionaly doing it to hurt her, i think she just gets excited or lashes out, but I'm worried that dd1 is eventually going to get scarred for life on her face.

I would cut her nails short, very short and keep them as seperate as possible. Also at two I would explain that it is wrong and start doing the naughty step. You wouldn't let her do it to another child, you would step in asap, your 4 yr old deserves the same respect.
