Change in behaviour?

My lovely boy of six has started to become quite aggressive lately, not with us but with himself inasmuch as if you tell him off he gets really shirty and stamps his feet and goes off in a real strop. We were playing snakes and ladders yesterday and he kept calling himself a 'loser' all the time. Normally if we're mucking about he can really laugh at himself but lately (past week or so) he's been really touchy. I'm not sure what's wrong with him. He just keeps saying that he loses at all games and and if you don't do things his way then he gets really upset. This is really out of character as normally he's quite chilled out. I'm not sure if anything has happened at school because he doesn't mention it and I don't want to make it into a big deal. Is it hormonal or something else? Thanks.

It does sound like something has upset him, probably at school. Hard to tell what if he doesn't discuss things easily. Maybe give it a few more days then have a word with his teacher? It may not be anything adults would consider "important" but still have bothered him.
