9 month old clapping when upset / crying - typical?

DS learned to clap just after turning nine months. It’s been about a fortnight and while we’ve noticed that he will clap sporadically throughout the day, he will also sometimes clap when he’s upset, too.

Googling has produced only one thread, on here, where a poster said her HV told her it could be a red flag for autism.

So I’m guessing it’s quite unusual and wondered if anyone else experienced this or had any advice?

Aww he sounds adorable! My little boy learned to clap about 4 weeks ago and he definitely does it randomly at times! I have absolutely no worries about him. He does clap a lot when he's giddy/happy or if someone is interacting with him, but he has also done it completely randomly.
