Mercury?

Ds has cleverly broken a thermometer into my kettle, [dont ask, he was meant to be making me a soothing cup of tea], Is it now ruined ? bearing in mind I think mercury is poisonous?

Yep, I'd buy a new one pronto!

Don't touch the mercury either.

Most thermometers these days are not mercury (the red ones).

"Mum? your tea has silver balls in it".... in that bored, whingy voice. I think that is mercury right? I am using a saucepan now.

Sounds like it sas, don't touch it and make sure ds doesn't either
