I have a late walker (2yo) who is now nearly 3 but still doesn’t run or jump! We were at a party recently and the other children were running around during a treasure hunt but he just sat in once place- I have consulted health visitor and she’s said to wait and watch. Any tips?

Does he have a scooter? That seemed to strengthen my kid’s legs and help them propel themselves into running and jumping. Also lots of stair climbing practice.

Is making moves towards getting quicker or no real interest?

Has your child seen a physio or paediatrician? My DD learnt to walk at 2.5 years. She turns 3 this weekend and still can’t run, jump or climb stairs so is way behind other kids her age. She has hypotonia (low muscle tone) and hypermobility which are common causes of gross motor delays and can be symptoms if other conditions.

I would go back to the HV and ask for a referral to Physio.
