when can i give ds1 a duvet?

we're redecorating ds's bedroom this weekend! when i was pg we did the whole 'neutral' thing, but now, at 1 year old, i feel he is deserving of a big boys bedroom, all blue with a nautical theme. the question i have is: when can he start using a pillow/cot duvet? (NB: he sleeps on his tummy all the time)

We started DD with a duvet at 1 (you can get them from mothercareor google cot bed duvets) you can also use a pillow from them but DD wasn't interested and she sleeps on her front.

Ours didn't have duvets until they went in to beds at 18m-2years.
