Baby stopped babbling?

Just looking for some reassurance that this is normal!

my 7.5 month old baby started babbling ‘bababa’ ‘mamama’ and ‘dadada’ a few weeks ago. This only lasted for a week and we’ve had no babbling since for the past two weeks! Is this common? She’s otherwise a very chatty baby, lots of sounds, screeching, laughing etc but its like shes forgotten to babble!

i know they can sometimes pause things whilst they work on new skills but shes not picked any skills up whilst this has taken a pause, other than now being super confident sitting up and is in the process of cutting her first tooth - could this be why? I do suffer from PPA and the lack of babbling is making me spiral a bit!

I promise you this is entirely normal at this age - my little one is exactly the same! He also does it with things like rolling - rolled once and then nothing for ages until this past week where he’s rolled almost every day.

Ditto dadada, we too had it for a few days a week or so ago and now it has disappeared, but I think he’s learned how to roll and is also about to cut his first top tooth. It’s so normal I promise. And sometimes the thing they’re ’working’ on, we can’t even see immediately.

😊

Forgot to say - Now ‘being super confident sitting up’ is a huuuuge new skill for her!

Thanks sooo much for you reply!! Babies are such little confusing things arent they! My baby girl blew raspberries non stop for about 3 days at 4 months then forgot how to do it for another month, so i think babbling is going to be similar!

Completely normal, they usually drop a skill when they are working on another! My little boy dropped babbling for about 2-3 weeks and now doesn’t stop 😂
