DS is 8 months old. Can’t roll but goes halfway then stops making effort. Weights 11.5kg so on the bigger side. Can sit independently for 1 hour or longer sometimes. Should I be worried? Loves eating but hates self feeding.

I don’t remember about rolling but my DD couldn’t sit at 8 months. She’s in her 20s now and is perfectly competent at sitting :-)

I’m sure it’s fine OP. Babies do things at their own pace. Speak to your HV if you are worried.

Have they ever rolled @Beastlybeautiful?

I can remember my DC1 doing it once then not doing it again for ages.

That must have been so worrying. Did they say that a Hospital stay might slow him gaining gross motor skills? I know that adults who have a Hospital stay can lose muscle mass pretty quickly so just thought it might be related? Flowers

They did say he might be abit slower. But he’s meeting all his other milestones, just the rolling side. Can sit up for ages.

It could just be that he’s not interested as he’s so good at sitting?

My first was always way more interested in standing than lying down. I’d give it a little longer but if you’re worried then ask the HV if she can refer for some physio Flowers

He’s in physio currently. Any baby that has a long hospital stay tend to get referred. He is quite big too, on the 99th centile so I think it’s his weight too.

Honestly? He sounds fine to me. Sounds like Physio are keeping an eye on him anyway Smile
