is this the wrong time to put ds into a bed?

ds is 23 months and have bought him a bed. He has seen the bed in the shop and knows it is in the study (not made up) anyway it only came yesterday and i have to wait for dh to be home to put it together. Basically the last few days when i put him down at night (not changed anything) he keeps crying. He doesnt do this for his naps and is normally a great sleeper. I cant work out what is wrong.

Was going to put the bed together tomorrow. Dh rekons 'there will never be a right time' to do this but i am worried about it...

If he's crying about being put in his cot it sounds like a great time to try a bed.

You might find that the crying is his way of saying he is not happy in his cot and his sleeping might improve massively when he gets into his bed. I know loads of kids who at this age have done the same thing. After a few nights and the novelty of him being able to get out then he may sleep better! Good luck!

If that is the case why is he ok when he has his lunch time nap? He goes to sleep the minute i put him down with not a peep..

They often go down easier in the afternoons than at night. My DS (15 mths) literally walks upstairs, fishes his dummy out of the cot and waits for me to put him in it.

Yet right now ( 8.45pm here) I can hear him leaping up and down in his cot with his brother encouraging him.

DS1 was the same age as yours when we put him in a bed. He slept better afterwards, despite a bit of to-ing and fro-ing to start off with.
