Me and my partner have had our first baby, a boy, he’s 10 weeks old and weighs 7.6kg and is 70cm long. Is there any cause for concern or is he just a bigger than average baby

How much did he weigh and how long did he measure at birth? Is he on a similar percentile now?

How tall are you and his dad?

Nothing is necessarily wrong with a chunky baby - someone has to be at the top end don’t they! But it’s more useful to know if he is following his percentiles. 😊

If you’re in the UK did they chart his birth centiles and record them in his red book? Is he following those centiles?

I agree with previous comments about parental height and what centiles he's been tracking so far. If you know some previous ages/weights, I can check the centiles for you.

I would also want the length remeasured. 7.6 kg at 10 weeks is very high centiles, between 98th and 99.6th, but not surprisingly so. Roughly 1 baby boy in 100 will weight that, so definitely a big boy, but plenty of them across the country. For length, 70 cm is well above the 99.6th line, and length is notoriously tricky to measure, so for me, the first thing to do would just check that it's accurate.
