Our daughter has just started in a new nursery setting and at the end of her first week has come home with a medal. We've also spoken to the staff and they have said she is an asset to the others as she can be a good example, saying they will use the phrases, "look, X can do this, can everyone else?"
As soon as it was said, I felt very uncomfortable, but wasn't sure how to respond in a constructive way. Surely this is setting her up to fail later on? She isn't even three yet, but she knows she is good at things, and regularly tells us that she's good at talking, good at drawing, good at football etc. I don't want her to get big headed, and I don't want to encourage any resentment from others.
Any tips on how to handle this?
