We have a just turned 3 year boy old and 4 month old baby girl. When the baby was born our toddler was really lovely and gentle with her, constantly wanting to help. However recently he has started to hit her or throw things at her, I have to constantly watch him like a hawk now. We've tried time outs and sitting him down to explain why this behaviour isn't acceptable and how he has hurt his baby sister. Sometimes he just says sorry but then continues to do it or laughs in our face.
We try our best to give him equal amounts of attention and still feel important.
Now last week he has started to hit his cousins (who he normally adores) and I'm at my wits end with it. He can be such a lovely caring sweet little boy and we just don't know how to stop this. Has anyone else been through something similar and is it just a phase?
