Hi all! Needing some advice on how to help my just turned 3yo have more confidence. When we go to Birthday parties, she will sit on the side and won’t join in with anything, the same with her weekly gymnastics she will not join in and just wants to go home. If she sees a stranger on the street she will back away from them. If people come over she will hide for ages until she feels comfortable.

She’s always been very social, she’s been going to nursery 3 days a week since she was 18 months and is absolutely fine there, she has no issues with going to stay at others houses. I don’t personally think it’s clinginess to myself or dad as she has no issues with us leaving her with family.

I am always told it’s a normal thing which I understand but why do none of the other kids at the party or no other kids at gymnastics have this issue? Her behaviour at group events is also not great, whining, not listening, having tantrums, I just don’t know how to help her confidence out and about.

Whose houses does she go and stay at?

@BunnyRuddingtonJust her Nana’s, dad and I work alternate days too so neither one of us is always with her.

Oh ok, I read it as though she was regularly staying at other people’s houses. My fault sorry

Have Nursery said anything? I might be worth asking to speak to the Nursery Manager, tell them about your concerns and ask if they have any?
