Hi all, this is my first post. Hoping for some advice.
My 8 year old DS doesn't want to do basic things like brushing his teeth and putting on shoes. He seems to purposefully try to annoy me by spraying water on drying washing and looking at me expectantly.
I try to stay calm and tell him clearly what I'm expecting of him. I also say things like "if you don't put your shoes on you can work with tools, it's not safe."
If I walk away he will follow me going on about whatever we are in disagreement about. My husband says he is playing with me and I need to just tell him off. It doesn't work though and DS keeps trying something else.
We have a very loving relationship usually and enjoy playing together and this is so confusing for me.
Is it just a phase? Not sure how to get him to brush his teeth. He's done it fine for years and also fine with husband. What is it about me?
He is an angle in school which I know takes it out of him and he finds it harder to control himself when at home.
