Do some 6 month olds just have ‘quiet days’?

Today, DS has seemed quite glum. He hasn’t been very smiley and hasn’t really spoken much. When I’ve tried to elicit a smile from him, it’s been quite tough.

Yesterday (for example) was different. He was making sounds for say five mins at a time, squealing, smiling in response to my smiles, talking ‘back’ to me etc.

But sometimes, he does have days like today. I feel like saying to people we meet, “he does talk/laugh you know, I promise!”

Is this normal or a bit unusual?

Sometimes they can and it could be for a myriad of reasons.

Please don’t make excuses for him either, nobody is the best version of themselves every day and that’s ok.

We as adults have off days, babies and kids do too. Tiredness, teething, boredom etc. Unless it’s constant or you have concerns about his health, it’s likely nothing to worry about 🙂

Thank you for your replies. It just seems to be the case that I see other babies out who are always very happy and noisy but that’s not always the case with mine. I feel I have to say that he does have happy days in case people think there’s something wrong with him!

But you’re only seeing those babies for a small fraction of time? And nobody is happy and smiley all day every day.

Seriously, you don’t have to make up excuses for him. Your DS is enough even when he’s quiet or even grumpy Flowers
