Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar or can offer any insight.
My youngest will be 6 months next week she has never rolled. Cannot sit unaided. Has never babbled. Has never laughed will smile but more at singing and not often. Health visitor is coming next week to see her but is there any chance this could be normal? I'm out of my mind

Hello. Not sitting and babbeling can be normal. Mine started to babble around 8-9months if i rememeber well (and he is now a very talkative 3 years old). He should be cooing (vocals=ah ah, oh oh etc).sitting independently is consideres delayed at 8 months i belive (mine was 7.months before he could really sit for a decent ammount of time). The not rolling is indeed a bit delyed, however how are his general motor skills?how is he with tummy time? The only concerning part i hear is the not smiling.

Thank you for replying. She doesn't coo at all either bless her she's silent. She seems almost like she'd be quite content staring into space sucking her thumb all day. She absolutely detests tummy time which I'd originally thought was why she wasn't rolling but obviously can now see the other stuff

I see, I think it is very good that your HV is visiting her next week, so they can check if she is on track and if not suggest what kind of interventions she might benefit of. If she is not cooing than maybe also a hearing check could be good.

I’m glad for you that the HV is coming. Have they asked you to fill anything in before they come, for instance the 6 month Social & Emotional Ages & Stages?

if not, it might be useful to fill it in anyway and discuss the results with her.
