Sudden clinginess at school drop off

I’m not sure if this is the right topic but I’m hoping someone can help.

My DS (just turned 5) started school last year and has settled in well, we’ve had no worries until a couple of weeks ago and now school drop off’s are hard. DS will cling to me, get sad (no tears though) and has to be walked in by the teacher. I’ve spoken to the teacher and she has said he is fine as soon as he gets into the classroom & OK for the rest of the day.

I’ve spoken to DS & he says he just misses me & there aren’t any problems. I read that things can become a habit so my DM dropped him in yesterday / today and although yesterday was fine this morning he was very clingy.

Any advise would be welcome 😊

is he getting along with friends ok? Have you tried asking one or two of his friends to walk into school together? That sometimes helps.

@Exgl I did ask and he said everything is fine with his friends. He did walk in with one a few days ago but even when his best friend walks in he’s still very uncertain and clingy
