8 month old not babbling or gesturing

Hi!

I have a baby boy turned 8 months today. He is still not gesturing when he wants to be lifted up nor does he babbles. My first born girl was hitting milestone quite early on and at 8 months she knows how to pass a toy when we ask her to “pass the toy”. There was a level of understanding there. So my question is, has anyone experienced this with their kids not hitting milestone at the same age? Is there really a difference between girls and boys development? Should I be worried about my boy?

in general, my baby boy is very smiley, smiles at everyone and is happy. He responds to his name when he’s not playing. When he sees me he would be very excited. He recognised faces.

Sorry you didn’t get any responses when you posted @Secondtimemum20251. How is your DS now?

Hi OP. My son did not babble until he was 12m and had no gestures like pointing or waving. We’re now going down the ASD diagnosis path. My youngest son babbled at about 7 months and at 10 months would lift his arms to us, clap, kiss, high 5 etc and no diagnosis concerns with him. Happy to answer any questions x
