ADHD help

My son is 6 and is on the waiting list for an ADHD diagnosis. Since Christmas his behaviour at school has gotten worse. He has been excluded for a day and only last week they refused to take him on a school trip, firstly the head told me she wouldn’t allow him to go as she ‘won’t reward bad behaviour’ then stated it was due to ‘Health and safety’ as he runs off in school.
I have been to the doctors in hope they would be able to help i.e medication (which I never wanted for him) but they couldn’t get us out of the room quick enough only offering to send the report my sons SENCO to the paediatrician in hopes it would speed up the process.
My son is in year 1 at school and isn’t meeting any of the education criteria for his age. He has a one to one and they offer him quiet spaces etc but he is still really struggling.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello @strugglingadhdmum I would ask @MNHQ to move this over to the SN Children Section where you will hopefully get some on exclusions, applying for an ECHP and DLA Flowers

Sorry @TinyMouseTheatre, I was actually trying to find something for him to help him calm down/ be able to regulate his emotions and help him focus. I wrote the original post in such a rush as everything was just running around my head I was just trying to give a little insight. I have recently been accepted for DLA and awaiting assessment for an EHCP. I just want to help him at school but I don’t know how, they don’t seem to be able to handle him at all most days and I don’t want him to fall too far behind. It breaks me that they don’t see him for the beautiful hearted boy he is 😢

I think the lovely MNers in the SN Children section really will be better at helping you with thisFlowers
