Not sure whether to be concerned or not
My little boy turned 2 in January and still not speaking - no mama dada etc he does babble
He doesn't point or wave - occasionally claps
He LOVES spinning round in circles mainly when happy

Loves anything with wheels
He can give eye contact - only recently
Will respond to his name 25% of the time
He wouldn't understand if I asked 'where's your book' or 'show me what you've got' etc.
his tantrums are bad to the point he claws at his body - no calming him down
He has his 2 year developmental check on monday...
should I be concerned or am I just over thinking? Can't help but compare to my eldest who's 4

Does he have his two year check this Monday @namechanged340?

Sounds exactly like how my son was when he was 2. It could be normal development or it could be autism. If you have concerns about his speech, now is the time to get support from Speech & Language. Early intervention is so key and I learned the hard way - maybe you could ask at your 2 year check up if they can refer you to the NHS Speech & Language service? There's no harm getting yourselves on the waiting list incase you do need it.

At our 2 year check up they reassured me that he could just be slow and to keep an eye on it. Fast forward to 3 and he was no better - I wish I sought a Speech therapist earlier. Now he's doing a lot better, almost 4, can tell me what he wants and the tantrums have eased. However still not up to speed with peers (e.g. can't talk in full sentences).

Keep us posted on how you get on at the 2 year check :-)
