11mo having tantrums. Is this normal?

My dd is just 11 months old and over the past couple of weeks has been having full on tantrums. She flings herself back & forth in her pushchair (as much as the restraints will allow); if i try & put her onto her back ( when changing her, for instance)she tries to fling herself out of my arms backwards, nearly landing really heavily on her head. She has also started screaming if i refuse to let her have an object and sometimes if take away her toys. Shopping is a nightmare as she screams as soon as she is bored, and i feel like i may be giving in to her already - a pattern i don't wish to follow! Other than that she charms everyone socially so they don't understand what i am going on about!!
Is this normal so early - I thought tantrums came later?!

Mmm very normal, my friends ds started this around 10 months but at 18 months he's nearly outgrown it. My ds has always been like this since he was about a week old!

He's still only 9 months but pretty much everything is hard work with him. Especially now he can sit up from laying down now so everytime we lay him down to change his nappy, he screams and sits up. He does this over and over again. He's the same with objects he wants but can't get. He screamed the other day as I was mopping the floor and wouldn't let him have the mop He also grabs things in shops and has a complete meltdown when we take them off him. He's grotty!

It will pass, i hope!

Thanks for the reassurance!
She has always been a high maintenance baby from day one, so am used to demanding behaviour but this seems to have come about quite suddenly.
Don't know if it is because she actuslly wants to be able to do more than she is physically able to do yet - she is really desperately trying to crawl but can't quite seem to master it!
Just need to hear that this isn't totally out of the ordinary...God help me if this is only a taste of things to come

Hi - just to say you're not alone - my 10 month old is the same!

A special hello to MeandmyJoe! How are you doing these days? sounds like your DS is still giving you plenty of grief! After my very excited post a while back that DD2 seemed to have turned the corner, she is still the same old grotbags, but at least now she is mobile I don't have to carry her around quite so much (if I do she will try and dive out of my arms anyway!)

Strong personalities, that's what it is. And assertive. all good qualities for later on in life (I think...)

dd started just before her first birthday

(was also still tantruming at 6, but you parbably don't want to hear that! )
