i thought we had a long had battle ahead

and tbh it wasn't a priority - we have to tackle nappies yet

but he has just decided that's it

(of course, he may change his mind in half an hou if he's lying there, sleepless...)

(he'll be 3 next week)

DS2 (nearly 4) frequently tells us he doesn't need his dummy anymore (he has one at night) once even put them in the bin. Come bedtime tho & it's "I want my dummeeeeee...!"

DS1 was a doddle, dummy-wise. Gave them up no probs at 3.

DD1 told me shortly after her 3rd birthday she wanted to give hers to FC

She kicked off a bit the first night. Decided to let her scream it out (dp wavered a bit, I had to be the Iron Fist in the Velvet Glove )

It worked though... second night she barely mentioned the dummy

Doesn't Tutter's ds realise that dinosaurs don't use dummies, they suck their thumbs?

Thanks for this thread Tutter! Reminded me that the tooth fairy almost forgot she had to visit DS last night. Thankfully he is still asleep so I have just crept in and left him 200 forint (about 75p!). Phew! That was a close one.

And do you know that Mummy Dinosaur has been trying to get the baby dinosaurs off dummies so she may not be impressed!

Maybe the mummy dinosaur will become your mate and you will meet up and go to the park together.

My Sister threw hers out of the Train window at about the same age - my Mum still talks about it

DD was just under 2 when she just handed her dummy over and said, no more.

It wasn't prompted, but she just made her own mind up. I'm really glad of this as I had a friend whose ds still used his when he was at school (only when he came home, but it must be harder then?!)

i had sucess recently too with getting ds 22months to give up his dummy or gucker as he called it .i thought it was gonna be really hard but he surprised me and only asked for it twice and i pretended that i could'nt find it and he was fine with that.
he still has it to go off to sleep so i think weve come to a compromise.
it has greatly improved his speach,but he has kind of substituted the dummy for a soft fleecey blanket but i dont let him take it outside.
