Help with habitual Nail-biting

Hi, to start, I started nail-biting few years ago, about 3-5.
And without a doubt I don't think I'm able to overcome the urge.
I start nail-biting without the thought of it even entering my mind.

The amount of time also means hefty damage is already done
to my nails as it is. In some fingers, only a 20-30% of my nail is
remaining.

Whenever I have to reveal my hands in front of others, like during
School Prayer, I feel really uneasy like everyone's watching.

I have tried to overcome it, once I was able to make a 50% recovery
but after that, I did it again. And since then, I am struggling with this.

I cannot use something like peppers as it'd hurt my skin
Can you guys tell me some ways implementing which I can have my
nails back?

Thanks

How about diverting your attention when you want to bite your nails? For example, do something that keeps your hands busy when you want to bite your nails. A more direct way is to carry a pair of gloves with you and put them on whenever you want to bite your nails.
