Ds is 8 month and really doesn't like grass - he won't put his feet down if he is on grass - is this normal?

My dd was the same at that age, she got over it by the age of 1.

southeastastra · 06/05/2008 12:37

yes my son used to really hate sand, we'd have to carry him into the sea he's ok now

heididrink · 06/05/2008 12:37

I done like it either- so yes completely normal

LIZS · 06/05/2008 12:42

ds was like that , grass, sand , snow .... He was eventually found to have some sensory issues but it did pass.

jelliebelly · 06/05/2008 13:09

Normal - ds was exactly the same - we used to put huge blankets on the grass and he would crawl to the edge and stop - great to save us having to follow him around when he was first moving! Once he started walking it didn't bother him.

littlepinkpixie · 06/05/2008 13:15

My DD was like this too, it passed though.

Kewcumber · 06/05/2008 13:17

normal - was scared of sand too. Completely over it by 2ys

singersgirl · 06/05/2008 13:30

DS1 exactly the same - cried when his feet touched grass. Didn't like sand either. By 22 months he was throwing himself face down onto the beach, so it definitely passed!

serenity · 06/05/2008 13:33

Another one here, none of mine liked grass at that age. DS2 loathed sand as well (until he was about 2 iirc)

BustyMcGee · 06/05/2008 13:34

DS was like this Thursday and got over it by Monday! It will pass, keep giving him the opportunity.

squilly · 07/05/2008 12:35

With my dd it was sand. It took her til she was 3 to face the sand without fussing horribly.

It's perfectly normal and easy to overcome as previous posters have said.

NotQuiteCockney · 07/05/2008 12:39

I still feel this way about sand.

tribpot · 07/05/2008 12:41

One of my nephews was the same, albeit from a later age. "Me no like grass, me no like sand". He's fine now though!

ruddynorah · 07/05/2008 12:41

yes dd was the same. she also didn't like going from hard floor to carpet or vice versa. she grew out of it.

KristinaM · 07/05/2008 12:43

Dd was like that with sand & grass until she was about 15 montsh old

totally normal IME

DrNortherner · 07/05/2008 12:44

DD wouldn't crawl on the grass and then also hated walking on sand. Had a complete meltdown on the beach in Cornwall last June on Day 1 of holiday. So Day 2, gloriously warm sunny day and DD went to the beach wearing wellies ... then had a meltdown because my feet had sand on them!!

weebam · 07/05/2008 23:04
