13 Month Old Worry

Hi all, my son has just turned 13 months old and I have a few concerns.
He doesn't:
Point or wave but we have only just started doing it as it’s not something we did often.
Doesn't imitate gestures.
Speak any real words.
Doesn't come and show us his toys.

He does:
Make great eye contact
He can clap but doesn’t do it on command, he does it when he wants to do it.
Responds to his name, though only when he’s not distracted by anything else.
Babbles a lot.
Looks at us while playing with his toys.

I will say he has only just started taking assisted steps. He was a late crawler and doesn’t cruise yet.

I'm really worried.

Has he had his 12 month check yet @ThatOliveReader? Wink

Honestly he sounds absolutely fine, my 13 month old is very similar. They are still so young. The pointing and gesturing is a milestone at 18 months, not 12 - and even then, some babies aren’t bothered.

He had his 12 month old check when he was 10 months. HV said we wouldn’t be seen again until he was two. HV didn’t have any concerns then but obviously that was three months ago now.

Thank you. Honestly I think I need to stop comparing him to what other children are doing. I’m thinking he’s just not bothered too.

Yes comparing is the absolute worst. They do things in their own time! It’s annoying how worrying about this can detract from just enjoying this time.

Mine walked at 15 months and got her first few basic words at 17 months. At 24.5 months she is doing just fine all round - more physical than verbal but hitting all milestones to varying degrees.
