DD has recently started flapping her left arm. She does seem to do it quite alot when she's playing. Is this a normal thing for babies?

Sounds perfectly normal to me. What's worrying you about it? Wink

Rach7291 · 13/01/2025 16:10

@TinyMouseTheatre i was just concerned it wasn't normal. I don't have any friends to ask 😔

They do like to do these things to throw us.

Do you manage to get out to any groups where there are babies around the sane age? Even if you don't talk to the other Mums much they get you out of the house and you get to see babies if a similar age abc what they're up to Flowers

@TinyMouseTheatre i haven't been to any yet. My anxiety around germs and DD getting ill is awful. Plus i'm so worried that i'll compare her to other babies and realise she's behind

Are you getting any support for your anxiety?

You'll know this already but being exposed to germs is very beneficial to babies.

Also, it seems a shame to deprive her the opportunity to meet other babies Flowers

@TinyMouseTheatre I am having therapy. I was like this before DD was born with myself and tried to fix it before she got here but that didn't happen. I know she needs to be exposed to germs and i do take her out places, but I am terrified of something happening to her.

It must be so hard. Does your Therapist know just how overwhelming these thoughts are for you and how restricting for you and DD? Flowers

Rach7291 · 13/01/2025 21:26

@TinyMouseTheatre yeah they do. Its really hard. I think its worse because i'm quite isolated and don't have any friends so i'm just alone.

Is your HV able to recommend any local groups for Mums that are struggling? It might help you with some additional support Flowers

My 6mo does the same when she's excited- it's often when I feed her or when someone is talking to her and she gets excited.
