DD has sucked her thumb since she was a baby. It helps her to comfort her and to go to sleep. I've never had a problem with it but I am just very aware that she is getting older now and soon her adult teeth will make an appearance. I've tried to cut her down to just sleep which works most days apart from hard days. She absolutely can't go to sleep without sucking her thumb and gets very upset and says she doesn't know how to go to sleep without doing it. Is there anything I can do to help her wean her off it without it being stressful for her?

My DN was a thumb sucker and they were advised by the Dentist fairly early in to swap for a dummy as you can remove those later.

Probably a bit late for your DD though as the habit will be ingrained.

Have you asked her Dentist what they recommend? Wink

My son is 7 and still sucks his thumb to get himself off to sleep. His front teeth are coming in nice and straight so I'm not too concerned. It's only a couple of minutes and he's out like a light every night. Meanwhile dd is bouncing on the ceiling but that's another story!
