9 month old biting

My ds has recently started biting me, just me. Not in temper but while we are playing or cuddling. It really hurts. This morning he drew blood! My mum suggested i should say no sharply and smack him on the hand. I personally don't think this is the best way to deal with it. He starts nursery next month and i would hate him to bite other babies, so i want to nip this in the bud. Does anyone have and advice of how to deal with this?

tbh it's a phase I think they all go thru. with DS I said no, or awww and made a bit of a fuss that it wasn't nice & he'd hurt me but tbh at 9 months old they don't understand these things.

also don't agree with smacking in any forms but at 9 months def don't do it as he won't understand.

my nan used to tell me to bite ds back

Dd went through a biting phase. If she did it when we were playing or cuddling, I said 'no biting' sharply, the games and cuddles stopped instantly and I put her in her cot or playpen for a few minutes. It helps if you can get your whole family/friends to do the same. She soon got the message that biting has consequences that she doesn't like so she stopped doing it.
