How Much does your 3 year old weigh?

My DS was 3 at Xmas - when he was born he weighed 9lb 14oz and was on the 98th centile - he's gradually fallen down the scale and is rather a small framed 'petite' boy, he weighs only 13kg.

DH and I haven't been unduly concerned as he eats a varied and well balanced diet. He enjoys a wide variety of food and will happily eat fruit and vegetables.

I went to weigh DS2 at the clinic yesterday and the HV commented that DS1 looked unwell, she questioned whether he eats and looked quite concerned. I was rather taken back as I'd gone there with DS2 with DS1 in toe.

Should I be worried?

My friend's 2 and half year old only weight 10.5 kgs (less than my 8 month old)!! In fact, they are both in 12-18 month size clothes, which is a bugger cos she was going to give me all of her ds' handmedowns but now it looks like I'll be doing that for her!

He is perfectly healthy but just doesn't have a big appitite and is VERY active. My friend is always worrying about him and he now has to see a dietitian at the hospital. I must admit he DOES look very small for his age though but that's height as well as weight.

Everyone is different builds and weights, who's to say that my rather enormous 8 month old won't slim off and your 3 year old wont broaden out when he's a bit older? I would ask the health visitor what she meant by 'unwell' though. I think it was a bit unprofessional of her if she didn't go into further details and just left you to worry.

If he seems active and happy then i wouldn't be too concerned.

Ds is 3 in a couple of months and weighs 12.5kg. He is slimmer than he is tall but then again he is shorter than average.

He has a very healthy appetite and doesn't look skinny so I'm not at all worried although I do find it weird when I meet 12month olds who weigh the same as him.

WHat an odd comment for the HV to make if she wasn't then going to explore what she meant with you and follow-up.

My son is almost 3 (June) and weighs iirc 2st 10lbs. he is 99.5cm tall.

He was 7lb 9oz at birth.

Ds is 3.8 years and exactly 15kg. I know this as he got a new car seat yesterday. Ps. He is a tall lad too!

Just looked up DS2's weight and he was 14.8kg at 3.9. So I'd underestimated. He's still a tiddler though.

My son is 4 and a half and weighs 18.5 kgs. He is 50th centile in height and weight so I really don't think you have anything to worry about
