Infacol/Gripe Water Question

I have been using Infacol since my LO was 3 weeks old. I think it worked to start with, but now (he is 9.5 weeks) I am not sure and thought I would have a day not using it to see. Needless to say we didn't have a good night, with him writhing around in his sleep.

I do have some gripe water (Colic Calm) that I ordered from the US which I am tempted to try but am unsure when to give it to him.

Can anyone share their experiences?

Hi,

I use gripe water and I try to give half halfway through the feed and then the other half at the end... It does help in bringing up the wind greatly! I also bought one of those medicinal stringes as otherwise it's a real mess! I only use it once a day though (at the 11am feed), I think it is quite safe to use with every feed as it's 'natural'? But I'm a worried first-time mum so just using it for the one feed!

I used infacol and gripe water on my ds but he was just a miserable discontented baby and nothing worked. However infacol seemed to work with my dd. Didnt use anything with last 2 dcs.

I used gripewater for my DS and it worked a treat, infacol did nothing. I used to give him gripe water about 3 times a day, but only half the dose they recommend, it made him so much more comfortable. I found it worked best if I gave it to him at the start of his feed rather than after. Also I found the best thing for him was a tummy massage before bed and bicycling his legs for 5 mins. He's now 9 months and loves me bicycling his legs for a laugh now!!

Gripewater is the way to go I think, only because even though Infacol is excellent it has to be given before feeds, which didnt suit my dd.

Gripewater can be given at any time, and its useful when they are struggling to sleep when got wind, as my dd frequently does even now at 4 months!!

Whatever works for you and your baby though..trial and error!
