success with no cry sleep solution?

I have not had success with no cry sleep solution. Anybody have success/some success/lack of success with this method? anything you learned that helped? thanks!
my child is 17 months old.

It all seemed a bit like hard work to me, all that getting them to sleep to a routine in the day so they would sleep well at a night. When I found myself and DD1 trudging along in the rain to get DD2 to sleep in her pram I thought. - enough's enough. Anyway, it's usually just a phase. Like the past couple of weeks with DD2 who now takes an hour to fall asleep and takes her nappy off just for good measure at the same time. Who know why
