Five year old won’t get dressed

From the toddler years my daughter has always been picky about what she’ll wear.

We have a pair of flares that she’s worn for literally years because other trousers have too many ‘feelings’.

She’s started school and each morning is a struggle to get her in her uniform. She’s done a term and we’ve only had one or two days where she’s not been screaming or crying ‘my pants my pants’ all the way to school.

I’ve bought so many different underwear options but none have worked out.

this weekend was exceptionally bad because we visited family and she wouldn’t take her pyjamas off all weekend!

I didn’t want a battle so just let her wear her pyjama top and the old flares 😂

my mum ended up in tears because daughter wouldn’t be in any photos. I’m past caring about trying to have her photo taken but obviously means a lot to my mum.

ive completed a behavioural course with my local children’s centre… 123 magic and we do a star chart and rewards for good behaviour. The issues with clothes seem to be sensory and she doesn’t have control. I’ve tried all sorts of fun games and distractions for getting dressed but she keeps losing her mind over underwear.

does this get better?

You can get seamless socks and underwear. I've no idea where from though. Maybe someone could help in the SN section?

I think that you may need to have a word with your DM though about accepting and loving the DGD she has, not the one she was expecting Flowers

Just one more thought, will she accept the pants and socks better if they were inside out so that the seams face outward instead of being next to her skin?
