My son won’t speak. He doesn’t have autism but he refuses to speak only a few month ago he started to turn when someone calls his name. I don’t know what I did wrong but I can’t seem to get him to talk. Up until he was 2 and a half he was saying ma-ma and ba-ba but suddenly he stops now he only moos like a cow and say the “e”. I’m concerned and worried we went to a speech therapist but they are still not doing anything. I don’t know what to do my mind is about to explode. Does anyone have this kind of experience and what did you do because I have never heard him say mama and look at me?

Has he been assessed for ASD then?

How do you know he doesn't have autism? It's quite unusual these days to even have got through assessment at 3 due to waiting lists. Is he at a preschool yet? Most would be flagging up a significant speech and language delay, and if he's not making good eye contact either then there are clear red flags for referral.

Children do, rarely have selective mutism, but usually they can talk at home but refuse in social situations, but it sounds as though your son has never progressed and has lost the couple of words he had.

He needs referral to a developmental paediatrician (via your GP usually). Children don't just refuse to talk.. there is a developmental issue.
How is his understanding? can he follow an instruction (eg 'go and get your coat'), How is his play? Does he play with toys appropriately , pretend to drive toys cars? Is he interested in other children?
