My boy is 3yrs 3mths. He’s happy, bright and great fun but always been what I’d describe as intense and very defiant. In a lot of ways, things are getting a bit easier (e.g. he’s complying more with holding hands at roads) but we’re in a really hard phase of spitting and hitting. I know he’s frustrated when he does this and I try redirecting/distracting/ignoring/ timeout/praise for behaviour I want to see more of/labelling emotions etc but it’s just really exhausting and he keeps doing it. He’s spat about 20 times already this morning and does it repeatedly when I ask him not to - that doesn’t feel like frustration, more just defiance, he just spits repeatedly on the floor or walls. He needs constant stimulation from me, there’s very little downtime all day and he often seems frantic, which can lead to hitting and spitting.

Just wondering if anyone has experience of this, advice etc. Ta!

Does he go to any kind of Childcare @KDM73 and have they said anything about the spitting?

Sounds very similar to my son. Same age, getting slightly better but still just hard work. Harder than others his age. I'm thinking possible ADHD/ASD
