One year old screams

My one year old daughter screams aggressively and cries a lot especially after she wakes up from her nap. She never slept through the night and cries constantly due to teething or unknown reasons. She doesn’t eat much either and it’s so hard to calm her down as she’s too loud. I’m exhausted and hopeless at the moment. Does anyone have any tips?

Not sleeping through the night is pretty normal at this age, I think around half of 12 month olds wake and need their Parents to help them get back to sleep.

The screaming must be difficult though. I can remember this age being tough because they can figure so much stuff out but usually can't communicate with you very well.

Have you had her 12 month check yet?

Thank you. Yes they said this is her way of showing what she wants! They suggested that we should stop giving her milk during nights which is unrealistic considering how loud and restless she gets. She doesn’t eat much either. The whole thing is very difficult at the moment 😕

Did the HV ask you to fill in the 12 month Ages & Stages and do you know what the result was? Have you ever filled the progress checker from Speech & Language UK?

And how do you feel about doing a bit of gentle night weaning?
