Developmental delay?

Hi, my son is now 18 months and I'm getting a little concerned with his development.
He is under a consultant due to his delayed walking. Most recent blood test showed very slightly increased creatine Kinase (CK) levels. So we are waiting on another blood test. Consultant hasn't told us anything yet.

He has eye problems - bilateral divergent squints but vision has been tested and is fine. Still waiting to see consultant 12+ months! Confused

He isn't walking independently yet but can pull up, walk with a walker etc always bum shuffled and still prefers this.

My main concern is his constant high pitched screaming for communication (has been going on about 10 months) and lack of speech - he says no words except Daddy, he has said about 5 words previously but doesn't now. He was early for gestures, and is very sociable and happy baby.

The constant daily high pitched screaming gets me down as my older son (5) wasn't like this at all. He walked at 12 months and did talk (late) at around 2 but he's fine now.

I'm concerned that my youngest has what appears to be lots of delays. We had a hard start as he was a very colicky, constipated baby with tongue tie so didn't sleep and breastfeeding was hard work. Got very little support from HV and even despite us rocking up at A&E once as GP just dismissed our concerns about the constipation. Finally ongoing referrals were made but 12+ waiting lists mean we are still non the wiser.
My husband thinks screaming gets worse if he's not opened his bowels recently. We keep on top of it though and do give movicol if needed.

Could he have glue ear?
Does it sound like developmental delays and if so what and how would this affect him?
We are waiting for a physio assessment - 12 months on waiting list Confused
But should I request a referral to speech and language?
Any similar stories would be great to hear.
Feel like we are in the dark.
Thanks

Are you in UK? What did the hv say at last check if you are? It's a stress so I feel for you.

Yea if you're on the UK I'd ask for a hearing test and a referral to SLT. You can self refer in some areas or your HV can do it for you.

You might want to ask for an Occupational Therapy Assessment, Portage and a Paediatric Dietician referral too.

Do come in over to the SN Children Board too Flowers

Glue ear could definitely be a factor. Is he on the waiting list for audiology?

@PolaroidPrincess thanks for your message. No not on the waiting list for audiology. I'll ring GP on Monday and see if they can assess for glue ear
