Hi everyone,
Iam looking for some advice. My 6-year-old son attends an outstanding state school and is generally a bright, well-behaved child. However recently he’s become really interested in video games like PS3, Nintendo, etc... which seem to be a big topic among the boys in his class. Most of them already have these things at home.
We don’t have any gaming consoles at home yet, but as a consolation, he keeps asking about games to download on the iPad. My husband and I never grew up playing video games so Iam finding it hard to understand why kids are so into them at such an early age. My son sometimes feels left out and asks us to get him these games, but I would prefer him to focus on other real-world activities instead.
Is this video game obsession common in this age group or schools in general? I would love to hear how others have handled this situation and whether this phase is normal.
