We’re really struggling with our 4yo DD’s (turned 4 last week) aggressive outbursts. For the last few months she has started very randomly just hitting out (could also be kicking, scratching, elbowing etc) at the smallest of things. I call them ‘outbursts’, but she’s actually usually very calm when she does it. For example, she could just walk past and kick us, then carry on, or we could be having a cuddle and she might just turn around and elbow us. We’ve tried to all sorts to try and stop it (gently talking her through why it’s not ok to do it, right through the confiscating toys every time she does it). Nothing seems to be working. It’s felt constant today.
We have a 10 month old, so at first I thought it might be attention seeking, but it’s got to the point where I’m starting to question whether she even realises she’s doing it.
Other than being a fussy eater, she’s an otherwise happy, healthy child and gets on really well at nursery.
My DH has ADHD, and I’m starting to wonder if this could be a sign of it in her even though it doesn’t align to any of the traditional traits in girls?
It’s becoming quite a stressful situation as I feel like she’s doing it more and more and nothing we do is making any difference.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice would be really appreicated!!
