DS is 10 years, an only child, I tried to set boundaries but DH has a hand off approach and usually doesn’t get involved (present physically but absent in any other ways ☹).
DS has an additive personality where if he likes something he would to do it all the time, and his likes change with time . Lately, it is computer games, he plays on a laptop that I put away outside the agreed playtime.
Yesterday (Sunday), I wanted a lazy Sunday (I‘ve lost my dad recently so still mourning ☹) so I let him play on either his tablet, my phone or the laptop. At the end of the day, I was in his bedroom ironing his school clothes and he just said: “ When I am moving out?” and that I never let him play video games.
I replied that he was a selfish, ungrateful, spoiled little brat and he could move out this instant!!!!
I feel like a real failure! Last summer, I took him to the States, and his attitude ruined the holidays: he would get upset and become annoying if things didn’t go his way!
On our return, I sat him down and explained how his attitude was wrong and how it was making me feel, but it looked like he didn’t care and he hadn’t changed a bit since.
